Because we both forgot the pieces of paper we had written them on, we had to recite them from memory. Tears of joy started running down my face as soon as the ceremony began, and Crane felt like he was going to faint. We were both choked up with so much emotion that we messed up all the words, but they still turned out meaningful and heartfelt. It even brought a few guests to tears! Our biggest challenge: Our biggest challenge was budget. At first we wanted to go all out with the catering, decorations, and entertainment. But when we added up the numbers, it just was not possible. We enlisted the help of family for the food and my father in law made the most delicious barbecue ribs! We simplified the decor with mason jars, tea light candles, and white tablecloths. A family friend who just happened to be a DJ, provided musical entertainment for free! Our venue does not provide electricity, so we purchased a generator to power the electrical equipment we would have to use during the wedding. The food was delicious, the wedding was beautiful, and the tunes were jammin’. My favorite moment: Our officiant has been Crane’s best friend since eighth grade. He made up his own ceremony and spoke it from the heart. After the ceremony, my mother in law and I shared a good long hug ’n’ cry. We’re now family! My funniest moment: Right at the end of the ceremony, when we were supposed to kiss, we accidentally fell over instead! Luckily, nobody was hurt. We still laugh about that now.
