We are grateful to have finally defeated a plan to build biomass incinerators to generate energy in Traverse City. It is good to know that at least one more community will be free from the impacts of dirty energy production on our environment and health. M’Lynn may be found on the internet, and is often quoted by media.
Ms. Hartwell’s accomplishments include working to halt the first wave of so-called “clean” coal plants, including several in Michigan. As a public interest intervener, she is working to include currently uncounted costs to our communities such as the health effects from burning coal and biomass, including, but not limited to, mercury, arsenic, particulate matter, photo-reactive gases, contamination of food and natural resources, air quality, and global climate change, as well as social and environmental justice.
We offer a very useful resource on the web for media and groups working to stop biomass in their communities at: http://JobsAndEnergy.com
